I didn't really get to dive into the game as much as I would've like, since children and GTA doesn't really mix well. And I don't really know if its because I'm running the game on standard definition, but the game actually doesn't look as good as I had envisioned it. Its still impressive for sure, but maybe I was just driving in the neighborhoods which have mediocre backgrounds. But I'm looking forward to spending more time with the game this weekend, since we're all caught up at work and I can have me some three day weekend rest and play.
I'm officially ticked at GameCrazy, which is like a bastard spinoff of Hollywood video. I've had one annoying tiff with them when they didn't have my Resident Evil 4 preorder in stock because of a delayed delivery. Then yesterday, I tried to claim my preorder and was told that I didn't even exist. My last name wasn't in there, a mispelling of my last name wasn't in there, even my phone number was non-existent. I told him that I had even signed up for a MVP account, which basically was an annual membership that alloted discounts for used games, but he said I wasn't in there. He asked rookie questions like, are you sure it was this store - and proceeded to call said store to verify that I wasn't in their system, and asked if it wasn't maybe Gamestop. Anyway, they did find my name after all, but my last name was listed as my brother's first name. So yeah, they managed to enroll me into their precious membership using me and my brother's first names as my whole name, and also losing my phone number. So no more preorders for these jokers.
In other news, I'm growing increasing agitated about a wedding that we're going to next Thursday, and they haven't even told us what time it starts. That's just ridiculous.

60 hours
The reason for the tumbleweeds drifting through thr columns of this blog is because my work is owning me. It is the end of the fiscal year and there has been tales of long hours and general evilness, and this past week I was doing 60 hours, Monday to Saturday, 10 hours each. Same will go for this week, followed by a 50 hour week. If I wasn't trying desperately to make up some dough for vacation, I wouldn't bother. Then again, it's not like I have much of a choice anyway.
There really haven't been much else happening when one works so much, other than develop a unhealthy disdain for one of my co-workers. I am cordial with him, but I don't show much interest in what he has to say, mostly because he thinks rather highly of himself. Well, I think highly of myself as well, but I don't throw my weight around and order people about. Ah, i'll just drop it now. Too much time is wasted on the issue.
My wife had 5 days off, because of some ironic karma, so when she told Zoe she had to go to work today, Zoe was pretty teary eyed and sad. Nothing a little Smash Bros Brawl didn't solve, but it was nonetheless a little secretly comforting to my wife. See, Alex for the past few days have been asking if my wife is working, and is disappointed when she isn't. He likes it when its Daddy watching them. We figured out later that it was linked to my phrasing. Whenever Alex asks if he could play Mario fighting game, I always say, "After Mommy goes to work", so that the kids wouldn't just ignore it when my wife leaves and says goodbye to the kids. Well, Alex interprets it as we never play the game unless Momy is at work, as if it were something secret we do when mommy isn't home. Silly tots.
Dansen and I have done a couple podcasts now, and they are slowly improving over time. Biggest issue right now is syncing, the first one was horrendous and the second one is much improved, but the audio doesn't quite sync up. So like a responsible friend I simply forwarded the audio to Dansen and just let him deal with it. Like I mentioned: 60 hours. I get a little picky about how I spend my time.
I'm looking forward to the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, coming out later this month to much hype and pretty good previews. I'm ready to drop sixty on the bad boy, although the experience will undoubtedly be dampened by not being able to play it 90 percent of the time I'm awake, because those are the times when the kids are awake too. Poor me. I'm having the same problem with Half Life, not being able to play it unless everyones out or sleeping. Because the game has zombie elements as well, that even rules out when my wife is around. But nonetheless, still excited about the game.
Well, my thumbs are getting a little numb and the kids are starting to picket, so I best be starting some form of entertainment for them. Maybe more later when I figure out something to say.

Sad Fool Who's Hopeful.
The Sad
I read a lot of news, mostly to keep myself informed with the world but mainly to look for things to do other than edit, and I come across some truly sad things. Everyday, CNN.com has at least one really depressing thing about a parent being a bastard to their children, or bad things happening to children. I imagine journalists do get jaded and callous because it's the only way to deal with all these everyday tragedies. Anyhow, it wasn't on CNN, but last night when I was stalling bedtime (yes, I procrastinate going to sleep too) I caught the tail end of "American Experience" on PBS, about David Vetter, a.k.a. Bubble Boy.
Now like most of my generation, I only know about "Bubble Boy" as a movie that John Travolta was in, and there was some stupid teen movie and was featured in Seinfeld. Didn't really think much of it, and I knew very little about it.
But after watching the documentary and also reading about it, I have to say that it's one of the saddest stories I've ever read. David being put into a sterile isolation 20 seconds after he's born because he had effectively, no immune system, and living in the plastic space for 12 years before a failed bone marrow transplant ultimately ravaged him with hundreds of cancer tumors. Reading about it was sad, but watching the documentary and seeing the photos of the poor boy, who looked polite but genuinely sad in the photos, and listening to all the people who have helped and watched over David, and even his Mom, whom only got to touch her son only once before his death, was just terribly sad. I couldn't imagine how any of them had cope with this for 12 long years, but the photos of David looking into the camera, resigned and sheepishly hopeful, has been lingering in my mind.
The Fool
Of course, today's April 1st and though I haven't played any pranks, I was a victim of one nonetheless. I admit, I was a little baffled at Google announcing their "Paper Archive" feature on their email, I have to say that I only bought it because I read it last night, not realizing that it was indeed April 1st, and that the cost of printing and mailing your documents was free due to ad placements on the copies. Why is that plausible? Because they offer so many cool features free anyhow, why not?
The Hopeful
I'm highly skeptical of anything I read today, and nothing on the web has confirmed this report, but it could be plausible... though likely not. Being such a big fan of Grand Theft Auto, it is a little bummer that the new GTA will premiere on 360 and PS3, and the spanking new trailer sure got my saliva going. It stated that because of the hardware limitations of the Wii, the port will be downgraded of course for the Wii. It isn't a rumor that Nintendo's Reggie has been courting Take-Two to bring over some GTA action, but right now it actually being on the Wii is just me hoping. It would be really cool if they did though.
